Efren Carrillo
CEO, FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Efren Carrillo was raised in West Santa Rosa, CA and attended Santa Rosa High School before receiving a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley in environmental science and policy.
Efren’s commitment to his community led him to serve two terms on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. Elected at the age of twenty-seven in 2008, he served from 2008-2012 and again from 2013-2015. Throughout his tenure on the Board, he was instrumental in establishing Sonoma Clean Power, served on the Santa Rosa Gang Task Force and Health Action Sonoma County, and was President of the Board of the Southwest Community Health Center.
Prior to his time on the Board, Efren's career was rooted in public service and community development. He worked for USEPA, Sonoma County Economic Development Board, Sonoma County Business Environmental Alliance, for Assemblyman Joe Nation, and for Redwood Credit Union as the Education and Government Relations Manager.
In 2017, Efren began working for Santa Rosa non-profit Burbank Housing in community and government. During his time with the organization Efren spent a great deal of time addressing the County’s housing crisis and working on policy changes at the local and regional levels. He was the organization's Vice President of Residential Development until joining Gallaher Community Housing as the organization’s CEO in March of 2023.
When not working, Efren enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Yolanda and their three children, playing soccer, or coaching youth sports.
